Kelly J. Shannon, Ph.D., is a visiting scholar at the Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University and a historian of U.S. foreign relations, modern Iran and human rights. She is the author of "U.S. Foreign Policy and Muslim Women’s Human Rights" and is writing a book on the history of U.S.-Iran relations in the first half of the 20th century.
