What to know
- Defense Secretary Pete Hegesth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine held a press briefing this morning, during which the Pentagon leader said the war with Iran was “on-plan” but did not explain the administration’s goals for the war or give a timeline for the operation.
- Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, FBI Director Kash Patel and CIA Director John Ratcliffe are testifying on Capitol Hill, this time before the House Intelligence Committee. Gabbard testified before the Senate yesterday, saying that the Iranian regime was still “intact,” though “largely degraded.”
- Oil and gas prices surged after an increase in attacks on oil and natural gas operations in the Persian Gulf by Iran and Israel. President Donald Trump said Wednesday night that Israel acted alone in striking Iran’s South Pars gas field. In response to that attack, Iran targeted Qatar’s Ras Laffan terminal, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas plant.
