- Iran offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if the United States lifts its naval blockade of Iranian ports and ships and agrees to end the war, two regional officials told The Associated Press. The offer would reportedly push negotiations on the country’s nuclear program to a later date. President Donald Trump hasn’t publicly commented on the reported offer.
- Trump abruptly canceled a trip by U.S. officials to visit Pakistan for a second round of peace talks with Iran over the weekend, citing, in part, the 18-hour plane ride. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, over the weekend, Iranian state media reported. He is expected to travel to Moscow today to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
- Oil prices rose to about $108 a barrel early this morning, after an expected second round of U.S.-Iran talks didn’t materialize over the weekend. Gas prices are also up. The average price of a gallon of gasoline is $4.11.
