- In an interview with Fox Business that aired this morning, Trump told host Maria Bartiromo that he believed the war with Iran would end “fairly soon.” Trump has repeatedly suggested the U.S. and Israel would quickly come to an agreement with Iran to end the war. A ceasefire deal between the three countries was agreed to last week, but there have been continued threats over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and key Iranian ports, major oil chokeholds in the region.
- Lebanon and Israel agreed to further negotiations over a peace deal after theLebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the United States met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday at the State Department. Israel has continued its strikes on Lebanon, targeting the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.
- The death toll in the Middle East has climbed to nearly 6,000 people since the U.S. and Israel began launching strikes on Iran more than a month ago. Israeli strikes brought Lebanon’s total death toll to 2,124 as of yesterday.
