Immigrations and Customs Enforcement acting Director Todd Lyons and other top immigration officials will testify before the House on Tuesday morning, with a funding deadline for ICE’s parent department just days away.
Lyons, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow will appear before the House Committee on Homeland Security. Lyons in particular is likely to face intense grilling from Democrats on the committee about his agency’s aggressive tactics in Minnesota, where federal officers killed two U.S. citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, last month.
Democrats are threatening to hold up funding for the Department of Homeland Security unless Republicans and the Trump administration agree to substantial reforms to ICE.
