Spring is in full swing, and Americans across the country are coming together this weekend for Passover and Easter. Whether you’re hiding the afikomen, hunting for eggs, or just happy it’s finally warm enough to be outside, there’s plenty happening. Hop to it!
In the nation’s capital, cherry blossom season is at its peak. Head to the banks of the Anacostia for Petalpalooza — a daylong street fest with interactive art, live music, dance performances, and a “beverage garden” for those who need something stronger than pink lemonade.
Down in Atlanta, 404! Day Weekend is five days of celebrating the city’s culture, community, and history. Lace up for a 5K, catch the parade, and stick around for a concert or two.
In the Windy City, Chicago’s Art Institute is showcasing “Matisse’s Jazz: Rhythms in Color” — the vivid cut-paper works Henri Matisse created when he was bedridden in his later years.
Out in the City of Angels, the Los Angeles Beer Festival is celebrating its 20th edition and going strong. More than 80 vendors, 200-plus varieties of beer, the best of L.A.’s food trucks, and DJs to keep things moving. Cheers.
And in Miami, bedtime looks — and sounds — a little different this weekend. Poetry in Pajamas is part of O, Miami’s annual monthlong poetry festival: PJs, open mics, kids reading their favorite poems, some even original. Need we say more?

If Trump is not defining his objectives on Iran, it’s clear (to me) that it gives him a universal escape hatch. Any outcome — even outright failure — can be claimed as success. “That was always our goal!” Isn’t it best to call his bluff before he calls ours?

Many people voted for Trump because he could apply his business experience to the job of president. Trump, who filed for bankruptcy six times, is on pace to become the first president to start a war and then, when he fails, stick others with the liabilities and messes, like his bankruptcies. Can you think of any situation where his business experience has made him a better president?

I saw your program this morning, and was appalled that the insurrectionists are suing those courageous police officers at the Capitol. I would like to know why the national [Fraternal Order of Police] hasn’t spoken out about this outrage, and why they have continued to endorse Trump for president, after his history of condoning distrust of law enforcement, the judicial system, the FBI, and our intelligence community, especially when it concerns Putin. I’m ashamed that Capitol Hill is letting him get away with abandoning Ukraine.

My husband and I watch “Morning Joe” every morning. Feels like family. I don’t understand why everyone says Venezuela was such a win; I understand taking out Nicolás Maduro is a plus, but what about the people? Are they better off? Why is that never mentioned? My idea of America, if possible, [is] to make life better for people; not just grab their oil and say that’s a win. What do you think?

I’m a huge fan of your show and really enjoy all the guest speakers and the wide variety of topics covered. I would like to see more yelling by Joe S. Virtually all of my friends and family are sickened every day by the illegal, immoral, lawbreaking, self-serving, and cruel actions by this administration. So many feel helpless and unable to do anything. I disagree and say we have to stay on top of what’s happening, make plans for what we can do now and later, and speak out when we see wrongdoing. We need more people to be outraged and stand up to these transgressions. I want a president who is safe for children to watch on TV — not the imbecile who expresses joy over the death of our heroes, not someone who calls deceased soldiers suckers and losers, not someone who was convicted of so many crimes, not someone who spends our tax dollars like it’s his personal decorating budget, not someone who demeans and defaces our buildings, not someone who demeans and denounces federal employees (by the way, he would not even qualify for most federal senior level/junior level positions), not someone who knows he is a loser but will do anything including cheat to win an election, not someone who has no empathy for children who have died because of his actions to defund critical programs to feed poor children, not someone who allows pathetic and unqualified individuals to run our Defense Department and Justice Department, not someone who puts our country’s military in harm’s way because with no regard for what will likely happen, etc. etc.
