Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.

* In the 24 hours following Tuesday night’s debate, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign raked in $47 million from donors. That’s the biggest one-day total since the Democrat began her 2024 candidacy in July.

* Speaking of the debate, the Harris campaign has unveiled a striking new, minute-long television ad, promoting an exchange between the vice president and Donald Trump on abortion rights.

* On a related note, American Bridge 21st Century, a leading super PAC aligned with Democratic politics, launched a $15 million ad buy this week focused entirely on abortion rights. The commercial will air in three closely watched battleground states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

* A national Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after the debate found Harris leading Trump, 47% to 42%. Meanwhile, the latest Morning Consult poll, also conducted after the debate, also found the Democratic nominee with a five-point advantage over the former president, 50% to 45%. (Click the links for information on the surveys’ methodologies and margins of error.)

* Quoting unidentified “people,” Trump argued via social media that it’s “very likely” that ABC News secretly provided Harris with the debate questions before the event. That’s utterly bonkers, of course, but it’s also an implicit acknowledgement of how well the vice president performed.

* In keeping with the party’s national efforts, New Hampshire Republicans are imposing new voting restrictions on the state’s electorate, including requiring first-time voters to present proof of citizenship when registering to vote. The measures, which will no doubt face legal challenges, won’t take effect until after Election Day 2024.

* The New York Times reported that a group with apparent GOP ties are running antisemitic ads in Michigan targeting Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.

* The Democratic ticket picked up an endorsement this week from the National Association of Letter Carriers, the largest union for active and retired postal workers.

* Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are scheduled to hold separate fundraisers for Harris in Los Angeles next week. The Trump campaign doesn’t have anyone comparable who can headline similar events on his behalf.

* And while Jill Stein has run for president several times, the Green Party's 2024 nominee was unable to say how many members are in the U.S. House of Representatives. “How many total are there? What is it, 600 some?” Stein said. (The House has 435 seats, not including non-voting delegates.)
