It advocates making the traditional heterosexual nuclear family the "center" of the next Republican presidency's platform. The plan includes a series of initiatives to elevate a Christian nationalist perspective of family while sidelining non-traditional families, which now represent the majority of American households. “We have very limited protections in terms of a social safety net for American families,” says Melissa Murray, professor at New York University and a leading expert in Family Law. “What Project 2025 proposes to do is to make these available only to certain kinds of families.”Aug. 11, 2024
