“These sandals are engineered with a meta-rocker sole similar to the bottom of a boat that allows your foot to roll smoothly from heel to toe, minimizing shock on your foot, ankle, knees and back,” says Dr. Miguel Cunha, a podiatrist and founder of Gotham Footcare in New York City. They are easy to slip on, have great breathability and are perfect for recovery after long runs or walks. They also have a wide base and moderate stability and support, according to the brand.
Hoka Women’s Challenger 7
These lightweight trail running shoes are designed for more rugged terrain. It has a breathable mesh upper so your feet stay dry when you sweat and a stacked rubber outsole for added comfort. It also has 4 mm lugs in the center and on the perimeter of the sole to help improve traction on uneven terrain, according to the brand.
Hoka Women’s Mach 6
This shoe’s semi-firm cushioning and durable rubber outsole made it a favorite of NBC Select associate reporter Bianca Alvarez. She likes that they help her move around freely without weighing her down, plus the shoe’s tongue is attached to the upper, which keeps it in place as you run.
