Every year, I write about all of the great deals and sale events happening at REI (there are a lot, by the way), so I have a good sense of what’s worth shopping at the retailer. I’m also aware that an REI membership provides a multitude of benefits and perks to dedicated customers, which is important to know since REI Member Days is happening right now and running until Sept. 22. During the sale, members get perks including 10% card rewards on purchases, 20% off an Re/Supply item and more.
Below, I talk more about the benefits of REI Member Days and include some deals happening at REI right now.
REI Member Days: Benefits, perks, deals and more
What are the benefits of an REI Co-op Membership?Throughout the year, REI members get benefits with access to exclusive deals, bonus cards, coupons, free U.S. standard shipping, extended return windows, 10% back annually on eligible purchases, 20% off bike and snow shop services, 33% off rentals, member-exclusive pricing on classes and events and the chance to vote during REI board elections.
What perks do members get during REI Member Days?In addition to the annual benefits above, REI members get benefits during REI Member Days including two times the rewards (10%) on purchases made with an REI Co-op Mastercard, which has no annual fee, 5% on REI Co-op Mastercard rewards when you make donations to the REI Cooperative Fund, 20% off a Re/Supply item (high quality used products) and 20% off bike repair packages.
Deals happening during REI Member DaysIn addition to the benefits of REI Member Days, be sure to shop some of the many deals happening at the retailer right now, which include items from top brands like Yeti, Hoka, On and more, some of which are up to 50% off.
This pullover from Patagonia, which is available in several styles, is the perfect accessory to wear during early fall weather. It’s made from recycled polyester fleece and is moisture wicking. Plus, it has an adjustable stand-up collar,, a pocket and spandex cuffs. It also has a hip-length hem allowing for more movement outdoors.
Brooks makes some of our favorite running shoes, and the Ghost Max is one of my personal favorites. I’ve had mine for a few months and they’re perfect for runs and casual walks. They have a medium amount of cushion on the sole and whether I’m walking or running my feet feel secure, even on more uneven terrain outside. NBC Select reporter Harry Rabinowitz, who also runs and writes about running shoes, has the Ghost Max too and loves them for casual wear. “These are my go-to walking and travel shoes because they are well cushioned, spacious and can handle easy runs too (so I don’t have to pack an extra pair of shoes, if I’m really trying to go ultralight),” he says. “They have a tall stack that eases the impact of long days out and about or miles on pavement.”
The Alta Vista rain jacket is made from water repellent recycled nylon and the lining is polyester mesh. The windproof jacket has an adjustable hood, pit-zip vents for breathability, multiple pockets, adjustable cuffs and a flexible hem to block out elements.
On makes some of our go-to trail and road running shoes and the Cloudmonster, which we include in our On buying guide, is a great option if you prefer to run outdoors. They have maximum cushioning, a 5.5-inch heel-to-toe drop and a 34.5-inch heel stack height. They have foam inserts that provide support to heels with each stride and mesh uppers made from recycled polyester.
