* Fauci contradicts Trump: "Even as movie theaters, gyms and salons are opening and some states are allowing limited indoor dining, daily life in the U.S. won't get back to normal until late 2021 when a vaccine for COVID-19 could be widely distributed, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said Friday."
* Fighting fires and nonsense at the same time: "Police and local officials on the West Coast are battling multiple raging fires. They're also fighting a wave of misinformation from false rumors spread in neighborhood Facebook groups and on far-right websites that antifa activists were setting the blazes."
* DHS whistleblower: "The House Intelligence Committee is expanding an existing investigation into the Department of Homeland Security to address a whistleblower's allegations that top officials politicized intelligence to aid President Donald Trump."
* An important legal setback: "A federal court on Thursday rejected President Trump's order to exclude unauthorized immigrants from population counts that will be used next year to reallocate seats in the House of Representatives, ruling that it was so obviously illegal that a lawsuit challenging the order need not go to a trial."
* DeVos retreats: "Education Secretary Betsy DeVos quietly dropped a controversial rule directing states to give private universities a larger share of coronavirus relief funds than specified by Congress. The move comes after a federal judge in Washington, D.C., ruled last week that the rule involving the distribution of $13.5 billion in federal aid was illegal."
* This isn't how presidential events are supposed to work in the United States: "A freelance reporter for The New York Times has said she was removed from President Donald Trump's Michigan campaign rally on Thursday.... The reason for her expulsion was not immediately clear."
