Today’s edition of quick hits.

* In Israel: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday fired his defense minister, Yoav Gallant, a long rumored move that was announced on Election Day in the United States. Netanyahu and Gallant had repeatedly clashed over the conduct of the war in Gaza and Lebanon.”

* Boeing finally received some good news for a change: “Boeing machinists approved a new labor deal Monday, ending a more than seven-week strike that halted most of the aircraft production at the company that was already struggling with mounting losses. Machinists voted 59% in favor of the new contract, which includes 38% wage increases over four years and other improvements.”

* It’s curious when some officials act like they have something to hide: “In a sign of how distrust of the federal government has permeated Republican politics in the Trump era, GOP officials in three red states have tried to block the Justice Department from engaging in its decades-long practice of sending observers into polling places. Two of the states, Missouri and Texas, have asked federal judges to intervene, but overnight those judges declined to do so. Texas ultimately reached an agreement with the Justice Department resolving the issue.”

* Everyone recognizes Election Day in their own way: “North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea, the South Korean military said, as the country continued its weapons demonstrations hours before the U.S. presidential election.”

* An incredible escalation: “Russia was responsible for sending two incendiary devices to DHL logistics hubs in Germany and the United Kingdom in July as part of a wider sabotage campaign to possibly start fires aboard aircraft bound for North America, a Western security official told NBC News.”

* In Tennessee: “A 24-year-old Tennessee man was arrested on Saturday moments before he planned to use a drone carrying an explosive to destroy a Nashville power substation to further his ‘violent white supremacist ideology,’ federal prosecutors said Monday. The man, Skyler Philippi of Columbia, Tenn., had plotted the attack to push an extremist ideology called ‘accelerationism,’ which calls for the complete collapse of American society, according to a criminal complaint prepared by the F.B.I.”

* Rudy Giuliani’s latest mistake: The former Trump lawyer was photographed in the convertible 1980 Mercedes-Benz SL500 outside the polling place where former President Donald Trump voted. The car — which used to belong to Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall — was among the items a federal judge ordered Giuliani to turn over to Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss last month to begin paying the $146 million judgment he owes them.”

* I’m just going to flag this one without comment: “Tucker Carlson, a top surrogate for former President Donald J. Trump who spoke at the Republican National Convention this summer and made racist claims at a Trump rally last week at Madison Square Garden, said on Monday that the increased occurrence of hurricanes in the United States was a consequence of abortion — which he characterized as ‘human sacrifice.’”
