The dire wolf is back—sort of. Biotech firm Colossal Biosciences used DNA from dire wolf fossils and surrogate dogs to produce three wolf pups. But University at Buffalo biologist Vincent Lynch says the results merely recreate the animal’s outward appearance, not the species itself.
