Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.

* In Michigan, the latest Quinnipiac University poll found Donald Trump narrowly leading Kamala Harris, 50% to 47%. The news for Democrats was just as harrowing in the Wolverine State’s U.S. Senate race, with the same survey showing Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin tied with former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers. (Click the link for additional information on the survey’s methodology and margins of error.)

* In Wisconsin, the latest Quinnipiac University poll found Trump leading Harris, 48% to 46%. In the Badger State’s U.S. Senate race, the same survey showed incumbent Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin ahead of Republican Eric Hovde, 50% to 46%. (Click the link for additional information on the survey’s methodology and margins of error.)

* In Pennsylvania, the latest Quinnipiac University poll found Harris ahead of Trump, 49% to 46%. In the Keystone State’s U.S. Senate race, the same survey showed incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey leading Republican David McCormick, 51% to 43%.

* In Ohio, the latest Washington Post poll found Trump leading Harris, 51% to 45%. In the Buckeye State’s U.S. Senate race, the same survey showed incumbent Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown ahead of Republican Bernie Moreno by the narrowest of margins, 48% to 47%.* Republicans have every reason to believe they will soon control the Senate: A new batch of New York Times/Siena College polls found Republican Sen. Ted Cruz up by four points in Texas, Republican Sen. Rick Scott up by nine points in Florida, and Republican Tim Sheehy up by eight points in Montana.

* At his latest campaign rally, Trump boasted to supporters that he and his campaign team are going to compete in New Jersey, Virginia and New York. To date, the GOP ticket is not investing any money at all in advertising in any of these states.

* The former president also repeated a bonkers claim that public schools are performing gender-affirming surgeries for children without parental consent, which continues to be utterly insane.

* And it continues to amaze me how modern campaign tactics continue to evolve and adapt to a changing landscape. The New York Times reported, “Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign bridged the real world with World of Warcraft on Wednesday, livestreaming Gov. Tim Walz’s rally in Arizona via Twitch, while a Twitch streamer played the role-playing game and provided commentary about his rally.”
